Java Software Engineer

Profile

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum 2 - 5 years experience with Java technologies.
* Experience implementing web services using Java and Java-related technologies.
* Knowledge of relational database concepts (MS SQL, Oracle and/or DB2).
* Preference given to those having experience with open source technologies such as Spring, Spring MVC, JMS.
* Some experience with AJAX, jQuery and JavaScript.
* Healthcare IT industry knowledge is a plus, particularly HIPPA, X12 transactions and HL7 transactions.
* Use of integrated development environments such as Eclipse.
* Use of source control management tools such as Subversion.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Analyzes designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs.
* Uses applicable programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of application.
* Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
* May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
Creates and updates specifications detailing system design and enhancements to meet software requirements.
* Participates in researching, identifying, evaluating and developing supporting software systems.
May participate in development teams to address business or systems issues.
* May interact with internal and external customers to evaluate product functional requirements and user experience.
* Participates in and supports process improvement activities within the department and company-wide.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Designs, develops and supports organization's software products.
* Creates and updates the design portion of feature specifications.
* Adheres to organizational processes and procedures.
* Adheres to departmental best-practices for software development.
* Works independently as a team member, shows initiative and drive to complete tasks timely, and may provide technical leadership.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge - Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Has technical knowledge in software development practices, programming languages and development techniques.

Job Complexity - Works on and resolves problems of moderate scope. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Interacts with senior team personnel.

Experience - Minimum of 2-5 years related experience

Education - Bachelor in related field or significant industry experience. Certification in applicable technology is desirable.
