Credit Specialist
Duties: Plays a crucial role in achieving our purpose of creating lasting value to those we serve by controlling credit exposure, receiving timely customer account payments, minimizing risk of customer disputes, and assisting in the management of key commercial real estate assets (owned real estate facilities and leased facilities). Will include analyzing financial information related to customer accounts, conducting collection calls, managing the daily operations of the real estate portfolio, including addressing routine leasing matters, advising accounting regarding lease related financial matters to ensure proper accounting and payment, assisting in the negotiation of new leases, assisting in the sale of Van Meter owned real estate, coordinating with external brokers, and management of real estate records. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value for those serve. Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Evaluate customer records and recommend payment based on payment history and purchase activity. Develop relationships and provide customer service with internal/external customers and suppliers. Minimize bad debt risk and maximize accounts receivable collections. Confer with credit association and other business representatives to exchange credit information. Review individual or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection. Consult with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions. Negotiate and document customer disputes to resolution, which will include coordinating with outside legal counsel. Assistance in managing and tracking customer bankruptcies. Actively participate and communicate with the Credit Team. Coordinating with external real estate brokers. Review of commercial real estate leases. Review of legal documents related to real estate sale transactions. Preparation of standard real estate and other legal documents (E.g., NDA, Receipt of Abstract, etc.). Management and organization of Van Meter Real Estate Records Management platform. Assist with intra-departmental projects to implement enhanced automation within finance and related process enhancements. May assist in Leadership responsibilities.
