Duties: Assesses institutional risk and addresses that risk through the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, the procurement of insurance coverage, and the management of the insurance program. Advising university management of potential sources of operational loss in connection with university activities and services, and assisting in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and methodologies; Ongoing assessment of insurance needs and negotiation and procurement of appropriate insurance coverage to address areas of risk, including evaluating insurance contracts, coverages, exclusions, and endorsements; Gathering and organizing underwriting data and completing insurance applications; Processing insurance claims, including providing notice to insurance carriers, submission of claims and negotiation of recovery; Assisting the Office of General Counsel on the coordination of litigation and recovery strategy; Managing the Office of Risk Management and Insurance, including management of personnel, financial oversight of budget, evaluation and implementation of technology strategies for the management of the risk program; Managing a complex property and liability insurance program; Assisting in development of training programs to address institutional risk; and Serving as principal point of contact with various external partners, including insurance brokers, carriers, underwriters, claims adjusters, attorneys and other external service providers. Interact with internal constituents at all levels of the university as well as external partners.
