MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for designing, implementing and supporting our client’s metro and backbone networks.
Responsible for working with internal groups and external partners in the design, acceptance testing, and production implementation for long haul transport circuits for both Ethernet and DWDM based infrastructures.
Assists Capacity Planning team in proactive augmentations for backbone/transport links
Lead and coordinate with vendors, customers and outside organizations all required Metro and Backbone work efforts.
Prepare written reports and other technical documentation necessary to communicate ideas, concepts, and details necessary to accomplish specific goals
Analyze chronic network imperfections for root cause source and recommend any appropriate corrective actions. Implement fix/correction as directed.
Contribute to the definition of operational and support requirements for new network related technologies and products.
Provide routing escalation support for all Metro and Backbone network elements.
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science or Applied Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or 5 years military and/or industrial Engineering experience.
4 years work experience in ISP environment.
Must have proven experience in design and turn-up of multi-gigabit transport networks (10G, SONET, etc)
Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and a customer-centric attitude.
Strong knowledge with configuration of Juniper/Cisco routers (7609, 6509,) switches, mux’s, CMTS’s in an ISP environment.
Strong understanding of Internet protocols and interior/exterior routing protocols (e.g. ARP, IP, TCP, ISIS, BGP, OSPF, SNMP, Multicast, IPv6 & DHCP).
Excellent understanding of ACLs, prefix lists, and firewalls.
Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and IP Management.
JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP and/or CCNP/CCIP/CCDP/CCIE required and or equivalent work experience.
CCIP/CCNP/CCIE or JNCIA/JNCIS required and/or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
