Summary
Optimos is seeking a Linux/Windows Patch Management Specialist
to support development efforts with our customer in Calverton, MD.
Essential roles and responsibilities
Operate within defined operating model and processes to provide ongoing Patch Management support for Operating Systems, Applications and Databases, across multiple environments.
Responsibilities include:
Work with team lead to follow the Patch Management process for Operating System (Linux and Windows) Application and Database (Oracle) patches
Coordinate with Data Center, Software vendors and project’s Development team
to ensure all patches are received on a timely basis
Analyze patches to determine impact on system functionality
Adhere to the strict timeline of applying and testing all patches with minimal impact to system uptime
After successful testing, promote patches across multiple environments (e.g. Patch, Development, Test environments)
Follow patch exception process for patches that need to be delayed or opted out
Use configuration management tool (Puppet) to track which patches have been applied to each server in each environment or opted out
Attend approval board meetings and request approval / opt out permission for patches
Required experience and qualifications
Minimum 4 years of Linux and Windows system administration experience
Minimum 4 years of experience with patch management process, including verifying and installing OS, Application & Database patches
Minimum 4 years of experience managing server and desktop configurations
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, systems engineering, computer network engineering, or other related area or four years of additional work experience in lieu of a degree
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred experience
Related professional certifications are a plus
