Associate Chief Legal Officer
Duties: Provides a wide-range of legal services for the Memorial Health Care System in collaboration with the Vice-President/Chief Legal Officer while managing team of lawyers and support staff. Prepares legal agreements related to health care transactions including purchase and sale agreements for medical practices and equipment, including agreements involving information technology, complex real property lease and/or purchase and sale agreements, employment and other professional services agreements for physicians and other health care providers, managed care agreements, agreements related to clinical research, affiliation agreements for medical-related education, and other general business agreements. Researches the intent of laws and judicial decisions and applies the law and acts as a legal advocate or advisor concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of the corporation or individual and, specifically, provides guidance regarding the application of laws, rules & regulations related to the relationships between and among health care providers. Works on unusual or complex problems and provides solutions related to the operation of a large, complex health care system. Independently pursues action to achieve desired results. Functions as an advisor to senior leadership.
