Backup System Engineer

Profile

CGI US Tier 1 Operations organization is currently looking for a Backup Analyst who will act as a technical lead and be responsible for the design and on-going daily tasks relating to backups at our various Data Center locations. This includes the setup and configuration of backups using Legato, setting up backup, retention and rotation plus tape handling responsibilities. It also includes configuring system components, on-going maintenance and restoration of backups and addressing backup issues 7x24. Completion of periodic i.e., monthly reports, relating to our backups will also be required. Candidates will join a team of Backup and SAN Engineers primarily focused on Infrastructure Storage, Backup and Restoration of Backups and providing production support.


Responsibilities for this role would include:
o Provisioning backups for new servers, upgrading, and decommissioning existing backups as needed for retired servers.

o Supporting the day to day operations environment (including Tape handling, build configurations, software maintenance, and service center incidents, restorations and request queue)

o Participating in the on-call rotation for 24x7 support for escalated problem resolution and business unit based projects and incidents.

o Project resource for business unit based or Backup resulting from infrastructure projects i.e. Encryption.

o Periodic management reporting

Requirements:
4 years experience with HP servers

Experience with HP Blade Servers

Know and experience with Backup tools i.e., Legato a must

Experience with Encryption and key management

Experience with EMC DMX

Windows 2003 and 2008 Server experience including DNS,WINS, and DHCP

Experience with Sharepoint a plus

Experience working in an Enterprise corporate datacenter environment

Experience with Wintel server backup products

Experience with IBM LT0-4 tape libraries/drives a plus

VMWare ESX Experience a plus

UNIX and AIX Experience a plus

Very Good documentation skills

Strong understanding of network topologies related to server infrastructure

Certification a plus

On call rotation required
Essential Skills Required

Technical:
o Extensive working experience in Large Enterprise environments

o Extensive working experience with project based solutions for our client community.

o Extensive working experience in administering, engineering, designing Backup services.

The US Tier 1 Team is a leveraged organization and many of our members support multiple client projects. These client contracts may require background checks for all members working within the client environment. Additionally, some require screening above and beyond what is required as standard screening for CGI employment in the US; to include, but not limited to, additional criminal history, drug screening and credit reporting in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. These background checks are client specific and in most cases are not transferable from one client account to the next. In order to meet the requirements of a leveraged organization, members of the US Tier 1 team may be required to complete multiple background checks during their career at CGI. All new hires into the US Tier 1 team will be required to complete client background check requests within the time frame stated in the client contract, as a condition of employment with CGI.
