Clinical Instructional Fellow
Duties: Under the supervision of the Bureau’s Family Clinical Instructors (CI), will learn clinical teaching methodology, while developing and refining teaching and practice approaches and improving data collection and outcome measures in the practice area. Under the supervision of the Family Law Clinical Instructors, will play an active role in supervising practicing law students within the Bureau’s family concentration group. Although students are the direct case handlers, the CIs act as attorney of record with ultimate authority for the cases conducted under his or her supervision. Will assist the CIs in the supervision of students by meeting regularly with students, helping them to prepare and strategize for their casework, review students' written work, provide regular, detailed feedback to students, and deliver instruction in basic legal skills. Will meet regularly with other teaching staff; assist in conducting case rounds and seminars on practice skills and substantive law; and participate in other office-wide projects, including orientation, trainings and outreach events. During summer months and other periods of student absence, might be entirely or partially responsible for direct case handling, including communication with clients, motions and trials. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are expected. Will report to the Bureau’s Faculty Director and to the clinic’s Administrative Director.
