The Nimblefish platform, N.7, is a software infrastructure that enables large corporations to deploy high-volume individualized direct marketing initiatives integrated across print, email, web, and personalized video. Companies including Nike, AT&T, Sears, and Marriott use N.7 to communicate with hundreds of millions of people with in a timely, relevant, and engaging manner.
The platform leverages a state of the art cloud computing infrastructure, including rich internet applications built on Adobe Flex and web services, variable online video using Flash, and a highly scalable back-end based on J2EE, Hibernate, and Oracle.
N.7 helps the world's most sophisticated marketers deploy unique, fully automated direct marketing engines that feature:
Unprecedented individualization in print, web, email and video
Automated production of digitally printed direct mail, email, Vision video and PURL(r) micro-sites
Compelling online advice experiences for online considered purchase
Automated campaign execution, follow-up marketing and lead management
Continuous measurement of marketing results
All of this adds up to more relevant, more engaging, more effective and more efficient marketing.
Responsibilities
Complex automated systems require world-class technologists. Working as a key member of a project team that also includes Nimblefish account management, creative, and production specialists, you will identify system requirements. Then you will develop practical and testable solutions to technical challenges that leverage the platform and support rapid and efficient deployment. You will develop, test, and manage those technical solutions. The success of the engine will rely on you.
Some specific responsibilities include:
Marketing System Architecture. You will be responsible for the technical design of the engine, defining how the N.7 platform will be configured to meet the business requirements of the customer in the most efficient and effective manner.
System Configuration. Using a mixture of carefully crafted processing configuration instructions, business rules and lookup/mapping tables, the platform generates packages of cleanly formatted output to power variable print, e-mail, and web messaging. You will design the engine's processing activity and use XML-based configuration files to set up and test configuration settings across multiple machines and 3rd-party applications to follow the process. Logic is written in a server-side Javascript dialect and mapping tables use Perl-type regular expressions.
Data Analysis. Nimblefish marketing engines require tight integration with client data systems and other data sources for processing prospect information, product information, and media. The N.7 platform devours prospect mailing lists, CRM reports, product catalogs, marketing survey results, and a variety of other data types. Because of the mixture of data sources, you must be experienced in working with a variety of information technologies such as scripting languages (i.e., Perl, VB, or shell scripts) and data tools (i.e., Excel macros, Filemaker Pro, or Access). From time to time, you will receive a pile of data in some format -- a CSV text file, perhaps, or a web page, or a fixed width file from a legacy Cobol system -- and you'll have to parse it, examine it, and figure out how it relates to other data that you're working with for that customer.
Platform Planning. As a primary user of the N.7 platform responsible for its configuration and operation on a day-to-day basis, you will also understand best what changes will improve its utility the most. You will work closely with the product development team to help them set and refine platform requirements. If your project requires a capability beyond those provided by the platform, you will need to think creatively about ways to leverage the system while meeting your client's needs.
Efficiency and teamwork are key to success - we're looking for candidates who can think fast, work quickly, and communicate effectively with engineers, account managers, graphic designers, copywriters, and marketing executives. Successful candidates will also demonstrate:
* Broad background in a mixture of software engineering and technical problem solving
* Eagerness to learn the language of marketing engines, messaging, and direct mail
* Positive, team-oriented demeanor
* Willingness to work hard in a dynamic startup environment.
* Some travel is required.
