Assistant Attorney General
The candidate will consult with and advise agency representatives regarding contractual and transactional issues and draft agreements. Utilize legal skills, knowledge and experience to resolve contract disputes, drafting disputes and related matters. Guide and train agency personnel in drafting agreements and contracts. Utilize legal skills, knowledge and experience to resolve problems posed by clients. Conduct necessary legal research to provide day-to-day legal advice. Draft pleadings, respond to motions and present arguments in court. Prepare legal documents, including complaints, answers, memoranda of law, briefs, discovery and oral arguments. Consult with other attorneys in the office to formulate case strategy, policies or other plans for case and agency work. Provide input on case assignments, consult with division deputy and section supervisor on legal strategic decisions in cases. Complete assignments as directed by section supervisor. Represent the Department of Transportation on legal matters in all administrative and court proceedings. Litigate contested case matters in drivers' license revocation cases in district court, legal proceedings of trial and appeal, negotiation, public hearings and business meetings. Represent the state in cases on appeal to the Wyoming Supreme Court and in cases in federal trial and appellate courts. Represent and advise the Department of Transportation on cases, statutes and rules and regulations related to their legal duties and responsibilities. Consult with section supervisor to evaluate workload among section attorneys. Review and approve rules and regulations promulgated by the Department of Transportation. Stay current in legal literature in all aspects of relevant law to provide current assistance to clients and other staff attorneys. Other duties as assigned.
