General Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for: Serve as a member of the Executive Team and act as a key business partner to all departments at Tuff Shed including: operations, sales and business development, finance, human resources, and marketing. Understand Tuff Shed’s business strategy to provide proactive, responsive, and timely legal support that advances the business’s objectives while appropriately managing business, legal, and regulatory risks. Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of legal agreements, including commercial contracts, distribution agreements, vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and consulting agreements. Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company. Advise on changes to laws and regulations. Build and manage legal processes in conjunction with other functional leads. Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues. Represent company or its officials in various legal proceedings. Prepare legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, etc. Write and administer complex vendor, client, and employment contracts. Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents. Assist in managing the relevant budget for both internal and external resources. Manage the day-to-day activities and outcomes of the legal department team. Should have 10+ years of comparable legal experience. Must have proven background in corporate law (contract law, employment law, litigation, intellectual property, and licensing). Should have excellent negotiation and communications skills. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet applications. Must have Juris Doctor degree in law. Must possess a current license to practice law. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
