Associate Legal Officer - Institutional Compliance

Duties: Under supervision provides professional legal guidance, service, and assistance to UTMB departments and administration. Under supervision, provides accurate, knowledgeable and timely legal advice based on research and analysis for a wide range of issues. Under supervision, effectively prioritizes file assignments, completes assignments within designated time frames and provides status reports of current projects and activities as necessary. Assures that Office of Institutional Compliance leadership is appropriately apprised of matters affecting file assignments and keeps departmental leadership informed of developments relevant to all projects and activities. Establishes and maintains positive, effective working relationships within the department, the institution, and the University of Texas System, as well as the local community. Reviews and adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Manage the preparation and review of institutional policies, including analysis of legal and/or compliance issues impacting such policies and other applicable rules and guidelines. Assist departmental and institution-wide personnel in development and review of the policies impacting their department. Performs related duties as assigned to enhance and expand knowledge, skills and scope of legal abilities.
