Job Title:

Product Strategy Lead, Hydrogen - Boston, MA

No. of Positions:

1

Job Description:

Where you fit

As the Product Strategy Lead you will be the primary focal point for product capabilities in the Hydrogen business and will have high visibility with senior management. The role will be part of the Hydrogen Product and Technology Development team, reporting to the Global Hydrogen Product Manager. The role works directly with the New Energies Research team to provide a seamless transition between strategy for commercially available technology and long-range technology strategy.

The PS Lead will be responsible for developing a nimble systems and strategic analysis group in the Hydrogen business and for ensuring that the necessary resources are available to support the business.

The Team Lead will have significant working relationships and visibility with business development, product development, operations, and safety functions in Shell Hydrogen. To deliver expected business results, a successful candidate needs to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and their inherent risks to a wide range of stakeholders both internally in Shell and in the wider Hydrogen community.

What’s the role?

The Product Strategy (PS) Lead is a multidisciplinary leadership role that seeks to bring zero emissions mobility to all sectors of global transportation. The role provides insight, capabilities, and directions to both Shell’s Hydrogen product as well as the hydrogen industry. The role requires building a product strategy team to create and maintain proprietary techno-economic models in Excel and Python as well as representing Shell Global Hydrogen’s Product Team at internal and external stakeholder meetings. The primary goal of this role is to identify and update plausible product roadmaps for cost-equal hydrogen refueling in Shell Hydrogen’s core markets.

The PS Lead will spearhead product strategy to help guide the product development team offerings in light-duty, heavy-duty, marine, and off-road vehicle applications by assessing and finding opportunities to adapt commercially available technologies and products to perform in fit-for-purpose systems. These new products will directly support developing business opportunities, making Shell New Energies the partner of choice in helping countries and specific regions meet their emissions targets.

Accountabilities

The PS Lead will build a team to, and directly engage in the following:
Support Hydrogen business development with opportunity framing, systems capabilities, cost modeling, and HSSE engagement.
Lead system assessments for opportunities of cost reduction and reliability improvement by identifying commercially available sub-systems/components to enable business opportunities.
Support global Hydrogen IP strategy by publishing, presenting at conferences, and filing patents.
Create and use in-house tools and simulations to model system performance and, where necessary, to build new capabilities for use by the Hydrogen team.
Perform should-cost analyses and assist supply chain development to reduce cost and influence product offerings.
Lead Product Strategy to identify opportunities for both incremental changes and step changes in the industry to reduce cost, increase reliability, and improve safety.
Leverage existing, and develop new in-house analysis and modeling tools.
Evaluate current gaps in reaching diesel-parity in the light duty, medium duty, fleet vehicles, and heavy duty sectors, in addition to marine, train, mining, and heavy industry sectors.
Reduce cost of deployed systems and lower operating expenses by assisting the Reliability Growth Manager to collect and interpret data from Shell’s global refueling network.
