Managing Director, Operations - Investment Office-
The candidate will report directly to the Chief Investment Officer. Will be responsible for leading the non-investment operations of the office. Play a meaningful role in the stewardship of a diversified portfolio invested globally across a broad range of asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, natural resources, public equity, and fixed income. Handle performance reporting, investment accounting, documentation, service provider relationships, systems, and infrastructure. Manage preparation of quarterly Investment Committee reporting materials, portions of the annual report, and other investment reports. Manage the administration of various activities not directly impacting the main investment portfolio for which the Investment Office is responsible. Coordinate HR functions to include recruiting, development, and performance evaluation. Lead and develop the operations team members and mentor junior investment staff. Coordinate legal due diligence, documentation reviews, compliance reporting, and contract management. Watch and refine performance measurement and risk management systems. Advise CIO on management and operational matters, including internal controls and risk management approaches. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required. MBA or JD degree is preferred. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is highly desired. 10+ years related work experience required; experience performing investment accounting and performance reporting is strongly preferred. Expert-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and ability to learn financial systems quickly is essential. Must have superior oral and written communication skills; high degree of critical reasoning and business discernment; Strong collaboration skills and creative problem solving skills with limited resources.
