Faculty - Paralegal Instructor and Program Director

Responsibilities: Conducts college courses for Paralegal students using a variety of appropriate teaching methods; meets all scheduled classes prepared to instruct; prepares teaching syllabi for courses of study; prepares materials to adequately evaluate student progress; reports midterm and final grades when appropriate; maintains accurate and adequate records; and establishes regular office hours for student consultation. Second, as program director, the faculty member will maintain the ABA accreditation standards for the program. Performs other related duties as assigned including: advising students on academic curricula; serving on faculty committees; participating in faculty meetings; providing recommendations for preparation of departmental or divisional budgets; participating in the development of departmental curricula; and adhering to all institutional policies. Additional departmental or divisional assignments may be established. Teaches college-level courses in Paralegal Studies; Oversees regular accreditation process with the ABA while maintaining those standards each semester; Meets regularly with the Paralegal advisory council; Advises students, maintain office hours, attend faculty and school meetings, serve on committees as requested and keep accurate records; Adheres to institutional and departmental mission, philosophy, and policies; Prepares course syllabi, outlines, and daily lesson plans; Participates in preparation and progression of students and evaluates student performance; Contributes to course, program-specific, and college-wide outcomes assessment with the Assessment Office; Participates in activities related to the development, improvement of the Paralegal programs; Maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, progress of students, and reports the same in a timely manner to Dean and/or Department Head; Prepares and administers examinations, student projects, and other teaching aids needed to fulfill objectives of program; sets up classroom, lab equipment, projects, and assignments; Participates in faculty development and student recruitment; Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications; and Other duties as requested by department, school, or administration.
